The SWIX Boulder Mountain Tour Pre-Race Expo is the last stop before the 36th annual BMT. The Expo is the place to pick up your race bag which includes your race bib, souvenir hat, last minute race information and various other race souvenirs. The Expo will also have a number of sponsor booths demonstrating the latest equipment and techniques. The up to minute wax information for the race will be available from the SWIX Team. The Expo will run from 10 AM till 8 PM, if you will be arriving later than that your race bag and number will be available at Galena Lodge on Saturday morning being at 9 AM. The 36th SWIX Boulder Mountain Tour begins at Senate Meadows near the historic Galena Lodge at 10:00am. Buses transport skiers from Ketchum to the start and back from the finish. The 32 km race begins with seven waves designated by ability and includes levels of skill from the top of the sport to first time beginners.
The BMT has gained a sterling reputation as a well run event and the most fun you can have in a ski race. 2011 will see a huge increase in the prize money offered to the elite skiers. More than $10,000 prize money will be paid to the top ten places in the men's and women's competition.
The BMT is one of the best opportunites for the beginning skier to compete with the very best athletes in the sport on the same course on the same day. The North Valley Trails always does a fantastic job of grooming and creates the best conditions possible.

The SWIX Half BMT is a non-competitive 15 km event designed to give the recreational skier the opportunity to participate in the fun and excitement of the BMT without the higher level of training and skill required for the full 32km race. The Half will begin just after the majority of full BMT skiers have passed the Baker Creek area and will proceed to the same finish area as the full BMT across from the Sawtooth Recreation Area headquarters. The SWIX Half BMT is just for fun, there are no times recorded and no awards other than the race bag and souvenir hat. The BMT / SVNF week is never complete till the last day of great activities. The last event on the calendar is the SWIX Boulder Mountain Tour Demo where you can try all the greatest gear for next season and ski the trails at Sun Valley Nordic. Starting at 10 am all the Nordic equipment sponsors will be present with demonstration gear and advice for your training and racing. Many top athletes will be available for a one on one to ski. The weather is always perfect and the trails are even better. It’s the very best way to wrap up another Sun Valley Nordic Festival. |
